Artitst Submissions
OK, here's the deal. Every band out there wants to be signed to a label, especially one that isn't going to steal the artists rights, and dig them into a financial hole that reaches hell itself. Many people think that a record contract comes with tons of money, tours, fame etc. etc... REALITY CHECK - if you want the money and fame and everything that comes with being a star you need to work for it. It's a fun job, but it's still a job and those of you out there that think it's smooth sailing once you get a contract - LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!
MEI is looking for hard working, dedicated, TALENTED musicians that really want to succeed in the music industry and aren't afraid to work at it.
If you think you've got what it takes - here's what you need to get to us.
- Latest recordings on CD (no vinyl, no cassettes, no DATs, no MP3's and no DVD's - we don't have time to watch you act like an ass back stage at your gigs) We don't need a retail ready CD, but the recording has to be of a quality that is easy to listen to and gets the songs across. And don't send us links to your myspace page or other website to listen there... it won't happen.
- Press Kit - (if you don't have or know what this is... don't send us anything until you've got a handle on it)
- Contact Information - The best way to get in touch with you or your agent / manager / mom / dad or whomever takes care of the artists professionally.
We ask that you send us the kit in a well padded envelope (not a box) with everything listed above included therein. Make sure that everything is readable (ie: no photo copies of photo copies of a news paper that looks like a bunch of dead ants on a page). Lastly we would appreciate that you send the package certified mail (don't send return reciept - noone will be able to sign for it and it WILL be sent back to you). You'll know that it got to us and WE DO listen to EVERYTHING we get. We WILL reply to you once we have evaluated the material with an answer to your request. In many cases we may also add a critique of the music telling you what we do and don't like (chances are if you're getting a critique there's more we DON'T like than we do - and no, we don't want to hear your rebuttal of our evaluation)
